Highly regarded receiver becomes 22nd signee for Lions
 
 
HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University football coach Mike Lucas announced Friday that Jonathan Dents has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lions in 2010.

Regarded as one of the top receivers in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Dents twice earned All-District 6-4A honors at Birdville High School in North Richland Hills, Texas.

As a senior, Dents caught 45 passes for 954 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Hawks, averaging 21.2 yards per reception. In his junior year, Dents recorded 57 passes for 881 yards and nine TDs, averaging 15.5 yards per catch.

Dents also lettered in basketball and track at BHS, earning District Defensive Player of the Year honors in basketball. Dents holds seven school records on the hardwood, including career and single-season records for steals and blocked shots, along with single-game records for assists, steals and free throws made.
