NRH Birdville scored early and often as they cruised by Saginaw Boswell 47-28 on Thursday night at the Birdville FAAC.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS- North Richland Hills Birdville (6-2, 4-0) used a 370 yard passing performance from Josh Dorman to roll past Saginaw Boswell (4-4, 2-2) 47-28 in a District 6-4A contest at the Birdville Fine Arts Athletic Complex. The Hawks in the win racked up 508 total yards while also forcing three Boswell turnovers. In a losing effort Boswell QB Quinton Gregory threw for 287 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Birdville opened the game by forcing a Boswell three and out, and the Hawks would move quickly down the field scoring on a five yard touchdown pass from Dorman to Clarke Renfro and the Hawks led 7-0. Birdville would force another three and out for Boswell and again they made it look easy scoring on the first play of the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead on Dorman’s one yard run.

Boswell would get the offense going utilizing the short passing game and the Pioneers would cut the lead in half as Gregory hooked up with Cameron Mavroulis for a six yard touchdown early in the second. The score would go to 21-14 late in the second quarter as the two teams traded touchdowns on their next two drives. Birdville scored on Jacob Grayson’s seven yard run, while Mavroulis scored on a 22 yard reception. Birdville would add to the lead at 24-14 as Preston Murphy kicked a 34 yard field goal as time expired in the first half.

Birdville would take complete control early in the second half scoring on their first two possessions of the third quarter as Dorman threw touchdown passes to Garrett Noel and Jonathan Dents and the Hawks held a commanding 38-14 lead. Boswell would try to get back in the game right before the third quarter ended as Jacob Stone caught a 16 yard toss from Gregory to make it 38-21.

Early in the fourth Boswell would force a Birdville fumble and with ten minutes left the Pioneers had the ball and a chance to get back in the game. Those hopes would go down the drain as the Pioneers would fumble the ball out of their own end zone for a safety and a 40-21 lead. Birdville LB William LeBlanc would return an INT on Boswell’s next drive for the Hawks final score to make it 47-21. Gregory would throw one more touchdown toss to Jacob Stone for the final margin of 47-28.
