Birdville takes down Joshua

The Birdville Hawks defeated the Joshua Owls on Friday night 41-19 at Owl Stadium.
Birdville got things started in the first with a 15-yard run from Jaycob Grayson for the score.
Preston Murphy tacked on the extra point to give the Hawks a quick 7-0 lead.
Birdville scored three more times on 5-yard pass to Jonathon Dents from Josh Doorman, a 5-yard pass to Clarke Renfro from Doorman and a 10-yard run from Grayson. Murphy converted all of the extra points as the Hawks built a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Joshua answered back in the second quarter with two scores. Josh Signa caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Jesse Williamson and then also scored on a 15-yard run later in the quarter.
Garrett Tate tacked on both extra points as the Owls cut into the lead, 28-14.
Birdville scored with 18 seconds left before halftime, however, on an 8-yard pass to Dents from Doorman.
Murphy tacked on the extra point and the Hawks led 35-13 at the half.
The Hawks added a field goal in the third to make it 38-13, but Joshua attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard run by Foster.
However, the two-point conversion failed and the Owls were still behind 38-19.
Birdville added a 19-yard field goal in the fourth to make the score 41-19, which ended up as the final.
Josh Doorman for the Hawks completed 24-of-32 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns.
Jaycob Grayson led the rushers with 141 yards on 15 attempts and one score.
The leader for the Owls in passing was Weston Foster who completed 8-of-21 passes for 103 yards and one interception.
Josh Signa finished with 34 yards rushing on six carries with one score.
Jordan Allen led the Joshua receivers with 66 yards on five catches.
